Contest Sign-Up Page
Client: Cheetos (Spec)
Audience: College students ages 18-22. They may be at a 4-year or a 2-year college, living on or off campus. They have a lot of snack options, already know and like Cheetos. They appreciate flavor and a snack that doesn’t spoil.
Challenge: Create one landing page for a contest sign up. Get email addresses for future marketing and promotion through contest sign-up.
Tone: Bold, Fun, Exciting, Sassy/Saucy/Cheeky, Promotional, Urgent
Strategy: The wants of the audience are taste (crunch), availability/abundance/speed of snacking (cram), and to get hyped up about their own imminent success (conquer). The alliteration matches the crunching sound of Cheetos and gives an urgent, bold vibe. The dual meaning of “crunch time” is to show Cheetos’ cheesy sense of humor (see what I did there?). College students may or may not actually experience the story portion of the copy (late-night adventures) but they want to feel like they are. Finally, I wanted to tap into the deep need/fears of the audience to communicate: “You can do this/you fit in/we believe in you.” You’re going to get your diploma, have a great college experience, and Cheetos believes in your bold self. These affirmations make filling in your email a no-brainer.
